Spring 2012 - Dolce and Gabbana

Thanks to Dolce and Gabbana, there is a huge possibility that come 2012 summer, the whole vegetable stall could be in your wardrobe! Imagine a dress with garlic on it? How exactly how do you make onions sexy? Well... thats exactly what Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana have managed to serve for their runway collection. Besides onions and garlic, we have tomatoes, courgettes, lemons, chillis, aubergine, plums and oranges.

The inspiration for the collection was actress Sophia Loren at her sexiest when she danced the mambo in a 1955 Italian film. Besides the veggies from the kitchen, there was a set of lace and crochet cocktail dresses and a finale of their signature corsets encrusted to the hilt in colorful crystals.

Surely, it looks a little too kitsch for comfort, but it is for summer and when else can you do it. After a few too many years of playing safe... this year looks like the designers are finally ready to stand out of the crowd and look unique. Love.

Spring 2012 - Charlotte Ronson

Keeping her signature dose of grunge, Charlotte Ronson delivered a very wearable collection with a Victorian flair. Whether inspired by the West, the 90s, PJs, Victorian detailing, 70s bohemianism, or other, the collection stayed true to Ronson's downtown, casual aesthetic. Loose crop tops and flowy skirts, patchwork pieces, lace bottoms and crochet detailing were a few of the key elements. She kept the palette relatively neutral, then finished with a fantastic full-length coral number. It did seem like the collection had a bit of a been there seen that feel; the collection had no particular theme to it and nothing stood out as fresh... but the wearable aspect will make the one reason why people may buy some of the pieces from this collection.
