Trend Watch - Fishtail Braid

The fishtail braid hairstyle is absolutely gorgeous. Everyone seems to be doing it. It is a remake of the braid pulled to the side. However, the fishtail makes these braid look way more edgy.

Finally a look for those with long hair, that's great for those bad hair days!!

Rihanna seems to be the one who is seriously pimping this trend, but others are not to be left behind.

Even our Indian celebrities are doing this, and its amazing how versatile this look is considering it goes well with a saree!

We first saw this style on the catwalks in Paris and New York, and by now it seems to be covered in most magazines and photoshoots.

There are tons of videos and tutorials on how to do the fishtail braid, but I just love the one created by Maegan for her blog.

The style is not that easy, but with practice it could be. Can't wait to perfect this style for me!!

Wearing Pop Art

For a daring pop art princess in you, designer Philip Colbert's new Venus in Sequins collection, is perfect. Each dress is hand-crafted with over three weeks of sequin and embroidery work.

Well, the  Urinal dresses or the Nude dress probably may not be the wisest thing to wear while you are going out, conceptually, the dresses are amazing.

The collection is a unique amalgamation of music, art and fashion which combines three closely associated genres to create a unique fashion concept.

'The Rodnik Band' label is presented as a pop band rather than a traditional fashion label.

Created and designed by Philip Colbert, the label is inspired by developments in the modern art world, in particular the work of Marcel Duchamp and the Pop Art movement.

The dresses, part of a limited edition and ranging from £695.00 to £1,600.00 are like wearable artwork where each piece is a couture artwork piece.

Design Your Own Dress

Imagine a garment that can be worn in multiple ways... you buy one set and you can design and redesign and redesign them without ever coming close to a sewing machine. Actually, you no longer have to imagine them.

Dutch designers Berber Soepboer and Fioen van Balgooi of Refinity have developed a click/fold system for garments which can simply be constructed by clicking together pieces of fabrics. Because of this it is possible to wash or replace the parts separately. And....it is made of C2C wool flannel which not only don't fray but are also eco-friendly!!

From the pictures, the idea seems inspired. You can make dresses, skirts, shorts, pants.... pretty much what you feel like.

In its basic form, they are essentially two small forms - Squares and Stars, that can be put together with more of the same kind creating a fabric. Both forms have small slices, which gives them the possibility to click in each other and hold.

This Fragments collection conforms to cradle-to-cradle standards of creating the absolute minimum amount of waste. Beginning with colorful zero-impact felt (that do not fray!), these pieces are puzzles created from shapes that can be cut with hardly any fabric waste. In addition, the pieces are constructed using small tabs instead of stitching, allowing them to be reconfigured for novelty value and maintained by replacing only the necessary pieces in the event of damage or excessive wear.

These designs are not currently available for purchase... but with this amazing garment that is colorful and customizable and that lets you decide how long, short, wide or thin your outfit should be – no sewing necessary, the concept is definitely fashionable and at the same time eco-friendly. It is only a matter of time before these garments are easily available... like Lego blocks!
